    Communications Resolution #2: Google Plus

    Paul SteinbrueckBy Paul SteinbrueckJan 11, 2013Updated:Jun 23, 20206 Comments2 Mins Read

Resolution 2 - Google PlusHi, in this video I’m continuing the series on my 7 Communications Resolutions for 2013 with resolution 2: Google Plus.  Find out out why I think this is going to be a big year for Google+ and why I’ll be investing more time and effort to engage there.

I’m optimistic about Google+ for two big reasons:

    1) Google search results are personalized.

Google thinks the things you like and share on G+ are more relevant to the people you know.  So, those things rank higher in the search results for the people you’re connected with in G+ “circles” and your connection’s connections.

    2) G+ is innovating while Facebook is alienating.

Facebook has been introducing changes in an effort to generate more revenue and in the process they’ve been frustrating and alienating their users. Meanwhile G+ hangouts are gaining in popularity and Google Plus just introduced groups. For these reasons, I believe in 203 Google Plus will reach a tipping point and move from “early adopter” phase to “early majority.”

So, let’s connect! Paul Steinbrueck on Google+ and OurChurch.Com on Google+

What are your thoughts on Google Plus?  Post a comment, discuss and feel free to include a link to your G+ profile.

And watch for the next video in the series: Resolution #3: Plan Ahead

Hi Paul, interesting. The main reason I have google + is I have my blog on google + but I dont really experience they connect very well. It would be nice to have the best of all world – fb chatting, walls and groups, google moving pictures and more connectable blog with both templates and more flexible and technical solutions.

Thanks for the comment Ina. When you say you have your blog on google, what do you mean by that? What's the address.

I too, have been reading between the lines and watching carefully to the change-up! Being a newbie twitter buff with my business, I've been playing with some of the social connection strategy. Let me tell ya, when I plug something in right, things start going off like wedding bells! My google reader, which is part of it all, has certainly entertained the idea of kayos with G+ Social inter-action on Feedbnr; kind of flirting with robotic bug-play? It sure is a really great tool though for the future(Often gets overlooked), and I love playing with it…. Great little read Paul liked the Video as well! BTW Glad to be connected with you on Linkedin…

Thanks Travis. Glad to hear you're having some success with social media. I'm not familiar with the term "robotic bug-play." What do you mean by that?

      Hey Paul…
Great comments, especially in light of what Facebook has done to its users. While Facebook is attempting to "extort' $$ from its users, G+ is quietly (or not so quietly) building a head of steam and is encouraging real interaction as its prime method to drive traffic.

      • PaulSteinbrueck on Jan 14, 2013 8:29 am

Hey Martin, yeah, Facebook's missteps along with G+'s steps forward should cause a lot of people to rethink where they spend their time and do their engagement.
