Collaboration Propels Christian Web Trends to #1 Church Blog

    Paul SteinbrueckBy Paul SteinbrueckMay 10, 2010Updated:Feb 7, 202312 Comments2 Mins Read

Last week 60+ other bloggers and I started the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog project here at Christian Web Trends.  Each day week day we’ve been reading a discussing a lesson from Darren Rowse’s e-book of the same name.

The participation and discussion during the first week surpassed my wildest expectations.  Not only have the bloggers participating been posting their thoughts on each day’s assignment and lesson, but they’ve been discussing each others comments.  They’ve also been going to each other’s blogs and commenting leading many participants to report experiencing more traffic and comments than they’ve ever had before.

All of this has propelled Christian Web Trends to be ranked by PostRank.com as the #1 blog in the church category…

and #2 blog in the Christianity category.

    How cool is that?

Congrats, mad props, and all credit to the awesome participants in the 31 Days project!

What’s even more awesome is you’ll notice that Synaptic Light, the blog of Phillip Gibb whose been participating in the 31 Days project and wrote today’s Day 6 post, went from #34 to #8 in the church category.  Congrats Phillip!

While the ranking are fun, what’s more important is that this demonstrates two important principles I blogged about earlier today on LiveIntentionally.org.

    1. Good blogs are motivated by serving their readers above self interest.
    2. The more you server your readers, the more likely they are to return, comment regularly, and share your posts with others.

So, bloggers, keep on serving one another and adding value to your readers!

That is awesome Paul! Congrats on the #1 status. Maybe we can keep the #1 spot during the 31DBBB. WooHoo!

That would be cool. The most important thing, though, is that we continue to serve one another by sharing our thoughts on each lesson & assignment, visiting each others blogs, and building relationships among one another. If we do that, the rankings (for what they're worth) will take care of themselves.

That's awesome! Congratulations to Church Web Trends and to Phillip for his post today. Hopefully the other guest bloggers will see similar success.

JD, just to be clear, Phillip's guest post today probably had little influence on his blog's ranking. His blog has risen because of all the comments, sharing, tweeting, and social bookmarking the posts on his blog have gotten in the week since we started the 31 Days project.
