New Church Social Media #ChSocM Twitter List

Paul SteinbrueckBy Paul SteinbrueckJan 10, 20147 Comments2 Mins Read

chsocm - church social mediaThis past Tuesday more than 50 people participated in the first #ChSocM Twitter chat of 2014. To help us connect beyond that one hour each Tuesday I’ve created a #ChSocM 2014 Twitter list.

    What’s #ChSocM?

#chsocm is a Twitter-based chat held each Tuesday at 9:00 PM (Eastern Time). Started in July 2011, this chat provides an opportunity for individuals from all denominations (and all around the world) to discuss topics of mutual interest.

Participants include church administrators and communicators; church lay leadership; clergy; marketing professionals for non-profit organizations and religious publishers; religion educators; seminarians; religion writers; and more.

Beyond the weekly chat, there is a #ChSocM blog ( which primarily serves as a log of past chats) and a brand new #ChSocM wiki.

    Great Community and Insight

I’ve been participating in the #ChSocM chats for the last couple of years.  It’s been great!  The discussions are lively and informative. The people are remarkably friendly and helpful.  I’ve developed some great friendships among some of the “regulars” and there are new folks joining in every week, each contributing their own perspective.

If you have any interest or involvement in social media for your church or a general interest in helping churches better use social media to build community and communicate, you’ll get a lot out of it.

I’ve had the opportunity to lead a few of the chats.  It’s been a great honor, and hopefully those chats have helped some folks do social media at their churches better.

    Join us!

I’ll be leading the next chat Tuesday, January 14.  We’ll talk more about how to set good goals for 2014. I hope you’ll join us!

    Back to the list…

If you participate in the #ChSocM chats, consider subscribing to #ChSocM 2014 Twitter list so you can engage with other #ChSocM peeps through out the week.

I’ll be adding more people each week as more people participate in the chat.

    Discuss

    • Have you participated in a #ChSocM chat? If so, what has your experience been like?
    • What are your thoughts on the new Twitter list?

I've been hit or miss over the past year or so… but it's mainly because it ends up being split between getting kids in bed and some spouse face time. Very interesting fire the most part.

I love the #ChSocM chat. I don't make it every week, but it's always worth it. Every week is full of great insight and ideas. More importantly, I feel like I've met some very interesting people that I interact with on other topics as well. #ChSocM is more than a chat. It is a community. @FatPastor

Love the list! We've needed it for years and you're definitely the guy/angel to make it happen. As for the #chsocm chat, it has become a never-ending source of delight way beyond shared content into a shared community of faith that reaches beyond denomination. Amen!
