Sometimes during the holidays, our schedules unexpectedly free up.
Downtime can be a gift.
It can give us the opportunity to do some work on the website we’ve been putting off because we were too busy. Maybe we can give our website the gift of a redesign, a new feature, or removing some clutter.
For churches, this may seem backwards. Christmas season is often the busiest time of the year, so what do you mean by “unexpected free time”? Although, the weeks leading up to Christmas are usually extremely busy for churches, the week or two after Christmas is usually slower. Not only are they a “quieter” time for the church staff, many members are also less busy these two weeks after Christmas.
How about putting out an email to all your members asking for a few hours of help with your website. Getting just a few folks to help make updates and move some old, outdated content, can make a big difference on your church website. In fact, they can make changes to the church website from their own living room!
The great thing about volunteers making changes to the church website, they can do them in their new Christmas PJs! -Mark Steinbrueck
