My son is a big baseball fanatic. He played ball for the last 9 years and has hopes of playing many more to come. I too am a huge fan of the sport and have coached his team each year he has played.
Just as with major league teams, his team has fallen behind in some games by a lot of runs. When talking with the team in the middle of a game like that, we always tell them they will not be able to score 7, 10, or more runs with one swing of the bat. They need to approach a comeback one inning, one at bat, one pitch at a time.
The same is true about turning around a lackluster church website. You will likely not be able to take a struggling website and turn it into a extraordinary hub of communication in a day, week, or even a month.
So what are your first pitches?
Do you need to remove outdated events from your website? Do you need to remove images of a pastor no longer part of your church? Do you need to change the service times on your website?
Whatever you need to do, start small.
Make a list of everything you want to change with your website. Knock out the quick and easy items first, then approach the mid-sized projects after that. You may need to get some outside help for the mid and large sized projects. But whatever you need to do, approach it in a little at a time, systematic approach.
