    > @stickyJesus 4) Jesus: Master of buzz

Sandra Heska KingBy Sandra Heska KingMay 11, 2011Updated:Feb 9, 202329 Comments2 Mins Read

In celebration of Internet Evangelism Month, this is the fourth in a 15-part blog project discussing the book, @stickyJesus: how to live out your faith online.

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! ~Psalm 119:102 (NIV)

Buzz got it’s start in the Garden of Eden when Eve recommended the apple. ~@stickyJesus

Adam and Eve were in a relationship.

    Eve tasted the forbidden apple.

    It was sweet.

So she told Adam to try it.

    And he trusted her.

    So he ate, too.

    Flawed fruit.

    Oops.

The number one reason people buy or try something is that someone they trust told them to do so. ~@stickyJesus

    It’s called “buzz.”

    Word of mouth marketing.

And customers are bees that taste and spread.

    Jesus was the Buzz Master.

    People swarmed after Him.

    And spread the word.

If Jesus had a website today, it would be sticky.

    Visitors would camp out there.

    Because His message is sweet.

His stats would surpass any system’s ability to measure.

Suffice to say that if you add up your friends, followers, and RSS blog subscriptions across the Web, then one blog, post, video, sermon link, tweet or post could easily reach tens of thousands of people in one given day. ~@sticky Jesus

We have the sweetest, most sticky message of all time.

And an amazing ability to spread it.

    We can build relationships.

    We can build trust.

    We can taste and see.

And we can share the buzz.

The wise counsel God gives when I’m awake is confirmed by my sleeping heart. Day and night I’ll stick with God; I’ve got a good thing going and I’m not letting go. ~Psalm 16:7-8 (Message)

    1. What aspect of this chapter was the stickiest for you?

    2. How can we be channels of trust online?

    3. Can you recall a time when the buzz from someone’s online words sweetened the bitterness of a bad day?

. . . and so we so we think, "What can we do to break through the noise and get people to think about God?"

Maybe that's part of our problem. We ask what can *we* do to break through the noise when maybe we need to ask how we can stick close to Him, follow Him, and let His holy whisper break through the noise in and through us.

      I want more buzz-worthy stories, too. I

And thanks for letting me take part.

Isn't it something that we can have a hand in raising the dead? In a spiritual sense, anyway. Oh, that I have eyes to see deep each day so I have fresh stories to share.

Here's a great example of a God story that has created a buzz. This video, "Kelsey the Miracle Baby," is about a baby who was born without a heartbeat, but God did the miraculous. It's gone viral. Take a look:

Thank you for this link, Paul. Awesome God!

Some of those comments are tear jerkers. There's a world of pain out there.

Great post! Sorry I missed the discussion on Wednesday. We got snow! We have satellite internet and it froze!

You asked how we can be channels of trust online. Just like in real life, I think we need to do what we say we are going to do. If I say I am going to pray for someone, I REALLY need to do that. If I say I am going to check on them later, I better. Be a person of your word. That is so important.

      • Sandra Heska King on May 14, 2011 12:56 pm

That's an ouch one, Christie. And oh so important!

Blessed by your words and succinct take-away from this chapter, Sandra! Love the images that capture my imagination and inspire me to follower harder after Jesus. The disciples simply shared the story they lived and it was powerful beyond comprehension, not because they were extraordinary people, but because they intimately knew the one who IS! It's the same today. Hearts are touched when we're authentic and open and honest, simply witnessing to God's extraordinary Hand at work in our very ordinary lives.

Printing out your post today and taping it to my kitchen cupboard. Blessings to you!

      • Sandra Heska King on May 14, 2011 12:59 pm

You just inspired me to follow harder, Cindee.

Simply sharing our simple stories and how we see Him in the "mundane." Because, really, it's all holy.

      Paul,

Absolutely right: stories create buzz. Look even at how Jesus taught: parables. Stories. And his stories created incredible buzz.

      The older I get…the more I do ministry…the closer I follow Jesus…the more I realize the value and buzz of a God-story.

    8. all about bible on Aug 29, 2011 6:47 am

Cool, we should definitely spread the word, the buzz has been going strong for over 2000 years, so we have it easy compared to what the messiah did
