Out With the Old, In With the New!

HeritageUMC2014-01-27At the beginning of each year, we often look for ways to start new things.  Maybe it means start to lose weight, pray more, or spend more time with family.  For churches, you may start a new sermon series, focus more on outreach, or start a building project.  For Heritage UMC in Clearwater, FL, one of the new things they started in 2014 was their website.

Heritage United Methodist Church has been partnering with OurChurch.Com for their website for the past four years.  They have the Custom Pro Website package and recently launched their new website with new design.  Here are three ways that Heritage UMC is achieving their mission online with their website:

    1. Calendar:  If you look at many church calendars, you may see their Sunday and midweek services listed.  Occasionally, they will have a few other ministry activities listed.  However, with Heritage UMC, you can find information on all kinds of activities, meetings, and service opportunities.  There is only one day in January without something on the calendar.
    2. Online sermons:  Did you miss last week’s service because you were sick or traveling?  Just go to the Heritage website to listen to the sermon that you missed.  This is also a great supplement if you are studying the sermon topic and need to check something that was referenced in the sermon.
    3. Online giving:  More and more people are engaged in eCommerce.  This means they are more comfortable with giving online.  It also means that they realize the convenience of giving online.  Heritage has made it very easy for members to give online.  Member’s can specify if they want to give a one-time donation or set up a recurring tithe for every week or every month.

These are just a few ways that Heritage UMC is utilizing their website to accomplish their church goals.  We invite you to visit the website of Heritage UMC by clicking here.  Please let us know what you think about their website by posting a comment below.
