Another free way to show your gratitude on your website…

Mark SteinbrueckBy Mark SteinbrueckNov 20, 2018No Comments2 Mins Read

The month of November is “Communicate Gratitude” month at OurChurch.Com.  We are giving examples of ways you can express gratitude to people through your online communications.

Last week, we did a spotlight about one of our recent custom clients, the Brent Simon Law Group.   Doing a client spotlight is one way that we like show our gratitude and appreciation to our clients.   This is usually done via a blog.

However, some churches don’t use a blog on their website, so what is another way that you can communicate gratitude via a spotlight on volunteers or staff?

    Newsletters

Most churches send either an electronic or physical newsletter out on a weekly or monthly basis.  It usually includes news and upcoming events.  But it could also feature a staff member or volunteer (or two) as a way of showing your appreciation of their hard work and dedication.  Adding a staff or volunteer spotlight to your newsletter is an easy and free way to show gratitude, especially if your church is already sending out a newsletter.  Also, having your newsletters available on your website, is a good way to improve your church website design, and keep people coming back to your site.

Doing a staff/volunteer feature in a newsletter doesn’t have to be a complicated process.  In fact, I’m going to make it extremely simple for you.  Below is a list of 10 questions you can ask the staff or volunteer to include in the spotlight.  All you need to do is email the person you will feature this list of questions a week in advance.  Readers are interested in finding out more personal and light-hearted information, so the most of questions are geared that way.

    1. Name, role (position), how long you have been with the organization
    2. Hometown
    3. What you like most about your work/volunteering?
    4. What you like to do in your downtime
    5. Favorite food
    6. Favorite music genre
    7. Favorite Bible verse
    8. Destination you would love to visit
    9. Cats or dogs
    10. Late night snack craving

“Everyone wants to be appreciated, so if you appreciate someone, don’t keep it a secret.” – Mary Kay Ash

What other ways does your church so appreciation to its staff and volunteers?  Please post your answers below.
