“See” what’s going on at your church website

Mark SteinbrueckBy Mark SteinbrueckJul 17, 2018No Comments2 Mins Read

We are in the middle of Destinations Month at OurChurch.Com where we are talking about what you can do to make your website a destination that will keep visitors coming back time and time again.

As I look at my family and all the different platforms of social media that is being used, the one constant among them all is the use of images.  People love to look at pictures of what other people are doing and their experiences.  Pictures make it easy for others to keep up to date with you are doing and using this form of media is something churches should be doing as well.

Sometimes it can be difficult for text to convey the emotion of a moment.  However, great candid pictures can allow those who weren’t able to attend or experience the event, share in the laughter, sadness, challenges, and joys of a moment.

Photo galleries have been a part of church websites for years, and if they are done well, it is a great compliment to sharing the story of an event.  Some activities that your church should be taking and posting pictures about are:

    • Youth conferences
    • Mission trips
    • Men’s/Women’s retreats
    • Baptisms
    • Volunteer outings
    • Picnic/cookouts

Every church website design that we offer at OurChurch.Com includes photo galleries, so you can create an unlimited number of photo galleries and place links to them throughout your website.

So I challenge you to be intentional about taking photos at your church events.  As few as 5-10 good pictures of an activity can allow the rest of the church to experience things that they were not able to attend.  In fact, if it is possible for multi-day events like mission trips, conferences, and retreats, post pictures daily, so family members who are not attending those events can keep up to date about the activities and what is going on.

“Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.” — Marc Riboud
