Why you should think twice before doing this for your website

    Mark SteinbrueckBy Mark SteinbrueckJun 9, 2014Updated:Jan 27, 20231 Comment3 Mins Read

I talk with all kinds of churches that want to get a new website. And although the church size, denomination, and location may very, a very common thing I hear is this:

“We have (or used to have) a website that was built and managed by one person but that person no longer is able to update the site or is no longer in contact with us.”

Because they chose to have one person build and manage their site, it has left the church in a bad situation for more reasons than you may think. The first few problems listed below may be fairly obvious; however, the last one may surprise you:

    1. They have a website that they can’t update.
    2. Because the website is not current, it is doing harm to the church by discouraging visitors from visiting the church.
    3. If they can update the content themselves but the site breaks or has a problem, they don’t have anyone to help them resolve the problem.
    4. They have an unrealistic mindset of the investment needed to have a SUCCESSFUL website.

The first three problems list can be resolved by getting a new website though any website company.  But the last problem will take retraining of the mind to overcome. Often times, once you get something for free (or very little cost), your mind thinks that the cost of that item or service should be free or cheap.

However, after considering the costs of trying to “go it alone” as listed above, the value of an ongoing service becomes much more palatable. Also, with all the time that is wasted when trying to figure things out on your own, a do-it-yourself solution may end up costing your more in the long run.

OurChurch.Com is able to help you with a long-term complete solution. We have been serving Christian churches for 17 years. Our mission is to help churches succeed, not just provide a website and leave you on your own. Our custom website solutions include helping plan out the website, building of website, entering content into the website, training so you can maintain the content yourself, and ongoing support to answer questions or fix issues that may arise in the future.

Are you frustrated with your current website? Do you want the peace of mind of working with a company that understands Christian churches and whose purpose is to see you succeed? If so, please request a free consultation here.
