Are You Doing This to Help Those in Need?

Mark SteinbrueckBy Mark SteinbrueckMay 12, 20142 Comments2 Mins Read

OPAscreenshot5-12-14Talking with those around you or seeing what people post online in social media, you probably encounter many people with needs.  Some may have needs for prayer, while some may have financial needs.  So what are you doing to help those with their needs?

Earlier this year, I was contacted by Out of Pocket Assistance (OPA).  www.outofpocketassistance.com is a ministry birthed with the purpose to help those with these specific needs.  Their primary focus is to help those who have medical bills that they can’t afford to pay immediately.  Out of Pocket Assistance will pay the medical bill and then the person in need will gradually pay back OPA.

OPA contacted OurChurch.Com with the idea of their ministry but wanted OCC to build a website that would facilitate the process of helping those with financial need.  There are a few key aspects of the OPA website that needed to be accomplished.

    1. Communicate the purpose to those visiting the website.  OPA wanted to use both text and appropriate images to convey their purpose.  Through the use of some stock images and a homepage image slider, OPA’s visitors can easily see what OPA is all about.
    2. Make the application process available online.  Although OPA wants to help as many people as possible, they also want to be prudent with their resources, which means requiring an application to be completed for those who need assistance.  The application can be easily viewed and downloaded from the www.outofpocketassistance.com website, along with the instructions on how to submit the application.
    3. Launch their prayer ministry.   In addition to helping those with financial needs, OPA want to pray for those they serve, plus others that may need prayer.  Visitors can easily submit their prayer requests through the OPA website and other visitors who come to the website can pray for the prayer requests that are posted on the site.

What do you think about Out of Pocket Assistance’s ministry and website?  What ways are you using the internet to meet the needs of those around you?  Please post your answers and other comments below.
