Get Ready for Internet Evangelism Day – April 27

    Paul SteinbrueckBy Paul SteinbrueckApr 3, 2008Updated:Apr 3, 200810 Comments3 Mins Read

Sunday, April 27th is Internet Evangelism Day (IED).  IED is a day to bring focus and attention to the tremendous opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ online.  It’s also a day for Christians to educate themselves and strategize within their organizations about how they can better share their faith online throughout the year.

You don’t have to be an Internet guru, a Bible scholar, or an evangelist to point people to Christ online.  Anyone can do it.  That means you.  It also means that if you are a leader in a church, youth ministry, Bible college, or other Christian organization, everyone in your organization can point people to Christ online.  All they need is a little encouragement and instruction, which you can provide.

Today I want to take just a moment to point you towards some things you can do and tell you a little more about what OurChurch.Com is doing for IED…

First of all, if you’d like a brief over view of IED, you can read our article from 2 years ago about IED.

Second, the IED website has tons of suggestions, resources, and reports from churches and other organizations on what they’ve done in past years.  There are print-outs, statistics, video clips, powerpoint presentations, and more.  Here are some suggestions for which the IED website has resources available:

    • Include an insert in your church bulletin with tips on how to share your faith online and evangelistic websites you can point people to.
    • Do a 5-minute drama/skit during Sunday service about Internet evangelism.
    • Do a 2-10 minute overview of Internet evangelism during the Sunday service.
    • Do a 45-60 minute class or training session during the Bible study hour.
    • Announced and organize a web evangelism team for your church.

Third, with thousands of member sites in our network and even more subscribers to this blog, we at OurChurch.Com want to do everything we can to make people aware of Internet evangelism opportunities.  So, we’re doing Internet Evangelism Month to encourage our members, subscribers, and readers to participate in IED.

We’ll also be discussing in our forums and here in our blog Internet evangelism strategies, including the importance that web design and search engine optimization has on a websites ability to be found and connect with spiritual seekers.

Finally, all month long we’ll be watching Christian blogs and news sites for articles about IED.  A number of bloggers have already posted articles about IED.  Here are some of them:

I’m silver haired, new to blogging, and a retired corp computer programmer. I author curriculum and stories for youth, computers, Christ, and scripture (for over 25 years). My Evangelism Computing Library provides them all for free downloading, no strings attached. My unique genre favors tech trash evangelism.
But what really bugs me is that pastors and churches are knee deep in presentation and admin technology but won’t say one thing about the loads of computing PRINCIPLES in scripture as promised by 2Tim 3:17. The key is to teach youth (and their parents) the real value in having an open bible next to the keyboard. After checking out my site (I’M NOT SELLIN’ NOTHIN’) godscomputermanual.com get back to me and I can tell you more about other unique partnerships between the great commission and cyber sharing.
