You Don’t Have to Get It Perfect

    covid-19 online church

How are you and your church doing during the COVID-19 lockdown?

I recently read an article that reported 72% of Americans Say they’ll hit a mental breaking point if stay-at-home orders continue into June. That same survey found 16% of people have already reached their breaking point.

    Wow! That’s concerning.

While some states have started to reopen, the reality is reopening is going to be a long, slow process. It will be a long time before things get back to “normal.” And life will probably never be fully “the way things used to be.”

If your plan has been to just hunker down for a few weeks until this is all blows over, that ain’t happening.

I encourage you to continue to experiment with new ways to connect with people and minister to one another.

Most of the technology to connect and interact with other people is free or very inexpensive – Facebook Live services, Zoom bible studies, video messages, devotional blogs, social media, Facebook groups, and so on.

If you’re worried about trying to do any of these things because you don’t know how and you’re afraid you’ll do it poorly, let me encourage you with this…

People are hungry for community and authenticity far more than production excellence.

For example, if you want to share via video something God has put on your heart, you don’t need an expensive camera, professional lighting equipment, multiple camera angles, intro and outro bumpers, and fancy video editing software to put it all together.

Just take 5 minutes and record a selfie video with your phone and post it to your social channels.

Whatever you try, start simple and adjust based on the feedback you receive.

You don’t have to get it perfect, you just have to get it going. –Jack Canfield
