Step Aside Rebecca Black, Sunday is New Worst Video Ever

    Paul SteinbrueckBy Paul SteinbrueckApr 8, 2011Updated:Apr 8, 20118 Comments1 Min Read

It was only a couple of weeks ago that I came a cross my newest “worst video ever,” Friday by Rebecca Black. Step aside Rebecca, we’ve got a new “worst video ever,” a Christian take-off on Friday called Sunday.

Christians have a long, sad history of producing cheap imitations of popular culture (see 90% of all Christian tshirts). This video would set an all-time low… if it weren’t for the fact that it’s a parody and is light-heartedly making fun of both Rebecca Black and the tendency towards lame rip-offs in Christian pop culture.  Have a look…

If you missed it, here’s the original “Friday” by Rebecca Black…

What do you think of “Sunday?”  Funny parody?  Or another lame Christian rip-off?

Since the "original" Friday video is just for fun, I think a parody of it can't be considered "lame" or a "rip-off"…

What I really hate is the fact the Christian video is WORSE than the WORST MUSIC VIDEO OF ALL TIME.I think this is the reason that so many people laugh at Christian culture. You can't get more cheesy than us.

Both are lame, and belong in the 1980s. Hat tip, though to the Christian alternative for actually being able to pull of similar graphic and audio tricks as the original. That shows there are Christians out there with the skills to produce. They just lack originality.

That is just awful. Why would someone think this is a good idea?

I'm just sitting here shaking my head.

I'm going to echo another comment I read elsewhere this week about Christian "parodies". A parody is intended to mock or make fun of the original. Christians don't do parodies of secular things, they just try to rip off their creativity instead of being creative themselves. The really sad thing is that even when stealing the creative ideas of others, the Christian version is usually still bad. I'll get off my soap box now.

Well, for some reason both videos didn't play very well for me, but I honestly think both of them are kinda lame…but, on the positive side, the blonde has a better voice.

I go to this church and from what i know, this was just meant for our Easter services within our church campuses. I'm not sure who put this on youtube but it was not meant for a viral hit, just a fun video for our youth groups.
