Top 10 Signs Your Church Website Needs a Redesign

    Paul SteinbrueckBy Paul SteinbrueckFeb 3, 2010Updated:Feb 6, 202314 Comments2 Mins Read

Has your church’s website had its current design for a while?  You think it’s getting a little stale or outdated but not sure if really needs a redesign?

Thanks to input from our Twitter followers here are the…

Top 10 Signs Your Church Website Needs a Redesign

    10) You’ve still got a headline on your homepage about DC Talk performing… in 2006. @WstephenAnfield

    9) You still have a midi file of Amazing Grace playing on your homepage.  @mzgambi

8 ) It’s worst than our website.  Seriously The message from pastor is now 20 years old. @coachburk

    7) You’re still using the debunked Geocities.  @coachburk

    6) Pic of the pastor shows him in a leisure suit.

    5) The animated dove on the site went to school with Big Bird.

    4) Contact info includes the pastor’s pager number.

    3) Upcoming Events page lists Rich Mullins concert.

    2) Total font faces, colors, & sizes used on homepage exceeds number of disciples.

    1) There’s a WWJD webring on the homepage.

We laugh about these things, but seriously people, a bad website or one that is not kept up to date is worse than not having one at all.  Get some feedback from people who are inside and outside your organization.  Request a free website review.

Great list. Some of them took me back… the midi file of Amazing Grace, the gif file of the animated dove and we can't forget the webrings. Some others would be the guestbooks and the visitor counter. Another one would be this page was updated : Sept 18, 1997.

Ah yes, I still see sites like this out there. And who could forget all those spinning crosses and Bibles with pages turning on their own? And we all know that the coolest website is a member of at least 10 webrings. Wow…those days are gone. Is nothing sacred? LOL.

Thanks for the ideas; at the current time I am so pleased we
still average over 1550 pages viewed of our website and have
enjoyed over 1800 in January (to start the new year). No changes
are needed at this time. Thanks, again for the ideas, though.

Referring to number 7 – Your = possession of something
      You're = a contraction for "you are"

Douglas I've made the correction. Thanks for you're help. 😉

Two years after moving on after pastoring a church, my name & photo still appeared on the website as the pastor. I guess I did not do a good job of passing on the batton of updating the site.
