    No Merry Christmas This Year

    Paul SteinbrueckBy Paul SteinbrueckDec 24, 2020Updated:Dec 24, 20206 Comments2 Mins Read

Sorry, but I’m NOT going to wish you a merry Christmas.

    It’s not because I’m a scrooge.

It’s not because I want to be politically correct.

It’s certainly not because I’m an atheist, secular humanist or a universalist.

Christmas is the day everything changed!

God became human! The kingdom of God became near! Christ our Savior was born!

“Merry” is too small a word for this.

If you are in a season of pain – physical, emotional, relational, spiritual or otherwise – this is the day the Prince of Peace entered this world. I wish you a Peaceful Christmas. Not a watered-down, hippy peace that ignores or denies hardship. But a Peace that says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

If you are in a good place right now and all seems right with the world. I wish you an Awe-full Christmas. Not an awful-as-in-bad Christmas, but a Christmas that so fills you with awe that you can’t sit still. An Awe-full that says, “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.”

It may seem like a contradiction or a paradox, however…

The Gospel is meant to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. -Garrison Keillor

I wish you a Peaceful, Awe-full Christmas that rocks your world! After we experience Christ this Christmas, let’s come back fired up and ready to live out your mission online together like never before!  Who’s with me?

That’s what I wish for everybody: Peace and kindness to those who need. Thanks for the message!

Amen to that narrative: To God be Glory for being so awesomely loving and gracious to us His created master piece , despite our flaws and human errors.
Yes, the “merry” word does not aptly reflects the true meaning of the season.
I pray we will all experience an awesomely blessed and inspired Christmas Holiday season, recharged and renewed to express Christ love to everyone and anyone in our sphere of influence.

May we understand the true meaning of Christmas, that Christ the Son of God came to us to save us.
