Urgent News: Down Time, End of NE1 & New WP-EZ Features

    Paul SteinbrueckBy Paul SteinbrueckJun 2, 2016Updated:Jan 25, 20238 Comments3 Mins Read

    (Updated 6/3/16 12:00 ET)

We’ve got a bunch of important news to share with you. Here are the headlines. Keep reading for the details:

    • Scheduled server upgrade 3AM ET June 3
    • NE1 support ends June 30
    • NE1 ends August 31
    • Uploading large media files
    • Expanded page editor

    1) Scheduled server upgrade 3AM ET June 3

Early tomorrow morning we will be replacing one of our servers. We expect there may up to 1 hour of downtime for the OurChurch.Com website, the MyOCC Dashboard, and all websites hosted by OurChurch.Com. Thanks for your patience as we make progress!

(Note due to some unexpected issues with the new server, the server was not replaced and there was no downtime. The downtime & replacement will be rescheduled at a future time still to be determined.)

    2) NE1 support ends June 30

After June 30, support will no longer be provided for websites created with the NE1 Website Builder. You can continue to use NE1 beyond June 30 but we will be unable to fix any problems with it or answer questions about it. We strongly encourage you to migrate your NE1 website to our new WP-EZ Website Builder before June 30. Start migrating here!

    3) NE1 ends August 31

While you can continue to use an NE1 website beyond June 30 without support, after August 31 we will be completely doing away with NE1. If you do not migrate your NE1 site to WP-EZ by August 31, we will migrate it for you. Again, we strongly encourage you to migrate your NE1 website to WP-EZ so you can choose your theme and edit your pages before making it live. Three months should be plenty of time.

We understand some folks don’t want to change, so if you missed it here is… Why Our NE1 Website Builder Has to Go

    4) Uploading large media files with WP-EZ

We’re excited to tell you about a new featured launched today for our WP-EZ Website Builder… All browser based website builders like WordPress and WP-EZ have a limit to the size of the files that can be uploaded. Currently WP-EZ’s limit is 80 MB. That’s big enough most media files, but some large video files are larger than 80 MB. Starting today you can FTP large media files into your account and then import them into WP-EZ. Here’s a video tutorial to show you How to Upload Large Media Files.

    5) Expanded page editor

The WP-EZ page edit includes 2 rows of icons for editing. Previously, by default just the top row was visible with the option to click to expand and see the bottom row. A lot of people didn’t see the option to view the second row and couldn’t find half the editing functionality. So, in today’s update we made both rows of icons visible by default. Another small step towards making WP-EZ the easiest website builder on the planet. 🙂

What are people saying about WP-EZ?

I wanted to let you know that we’ve gone live with our website and I also wanted to give you a well deserved “Thank You” for your help… This WP-EZ website looks *FANTASTIC* on my cell phone too! It is much better than the NE1 any day! I think OurChurch.com made the right move! -Dennis Primm, eastsidebaptistvernon.org

        Hi Robert…

        >>my tutorialship has not help me much in understanding the NE 1

NE1 is our old web builder which we are sunsetting. Are you having difficulty understanding our new WP-EZ website builder? If so, please let us know specifically what you would like to understand better.

Glad you added this new upload feature to the builder. It really helps. The WP-EZ builder is great!, a big improvement over the NE1 builder ….our church's migration was smooth.

I just discovered that everyone needs to migrate to the new WP-EZ. I planned to do the migration before the end of June. ( And if, for some reason, a webmaster has not done so by that date, by August 30, 2016, OurChurch would do the migration. I was never notified about the new changes. I have just found out from Customer Support that someone has either messed up or eliminated my website, BEFORE the clearly stated deadline to do the migration!
This should never have happened; it is Unethical! I want the content from my website!

      • PaulSteinbrueck on Jun 23, 2016 11:10 am

Hi Rev. Cancel, I'm sorry that your website was down. The deadline to migrate free sites to WP-EZ was actually May 18. We posted the announcement to our blog on April 20 (WP-EZ Migration FAQs – http://j.mp/26ffSkm) and May 5 (7 Things You Need to Know About the NE1 to WP-EZ Migration – http://j.mp/1XaCU7X), and we attempted to notify everyone with a free site. Additionally, we thought we had moved all remaining free sites on May 26. Obviously, though, we missed some like yours.

The good news is, we were able to import the data from your old NE1 site into our new WP-EZ website builder. If there's anything else we can do to help you with your new website or otherwise, please let us know.
