Setting 2018 goals for your church website

Mark SteinbrueckBy Mark SteinbrueckOct 10, 20171 Comment2 Mins Read

Last week we talked about determining the purpose of your church website.

Then we discussed the importance of listing how you can accomplish the purpose of the website.

But how do you know if you are actually accomplishing the purpose of the website?

The only way to do this is to set goals for your website.

When setting goals for your website, they should meet 3 criteria:

    1. The goals should be specific
    2. The goals should be measurable
    3. The goals should be attainable

I want to give examples of poorly set goals as well as goals that are well thought out:

    • Poor goals:
      • We want visitors to feel welcome at our church
      • We want members to become more involved at the church
    • Good goals
      • We want a 95% “welcome” rating by new visitors, determined through a survey given to visitors when the visit for the first time.
      • We want to double the number of volunteers that serve on a weekend.

As you can see, the first set of goals is ambiguous and not able to be measured, however, the second set of goals is defined and easily measurable.

“A goal properly set is halfway reached.” —Zig Ziglar

Aha, thank you Mark, although my site is not a church website, but I think it is very important now for me to set goals for my site in 2018, since recent my site rank down, not good. 🙁 Thank you for your article. 🙂
