Social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, and blogs provide unprecedented opportunities to develop relationships, engage with others, and share ideas. This includes unprecedented opportunities to engage others in spiritual conversations.

Tami Heim and Toni Birdsong have written an excellent book titled @StickyJesus which provides some great insight into how use social media and blogs to share the gospel and impact the world.

Because Internet Evangelism Day is May 15 and because one Internet evangelism day has never been enough for us at Christian Web Trends, we’re making the entire month of May Internet Evangelism Month and will be blogging our way through @StickyJesus chapter by chapter.

To make the experience richer and more insightful for everyone, I’m looking for 15 people who would like to blog through @StickyJesus with me.

We did this with Kem Meyer’s book Less Clutter. Less Noise. earlier this year year and it really enabled the participants to discuss the topics more in depth and learn from one another. So, here are the details:

    • Monday, May 2, I’ll kick things off with a blog post introducing the series.
    • Then every Wednesday, Friday, and Monday after that a different guest blogger will post about a chapter and lead the discussion.
    • I’ve created a sign-up spreadsheet in Google Docs. Post a comment if you’d like to participate. I’ll share the document with you. You enter your info in the spreadsheet for the day/chapter you want to blog & lead the discussion.
    • You will have to get your own copy of @StickyJesus, however…

We will give away a copy of @StickyJesus to one person who sign-up by 5 PM Eastern Thursday, April 28.

EASTER celebration or commemoration of 2011, is come and gone. But to the Wise and those with the Holy Spirit, every moment is Easter in their lives. EASTER is not a DATE, but a STATE of MIND. Without Easter, which simply means the death and the resurrection of Our LORD JESUS the CHRIST, as it is written in St. Matthew 16 v 32; 1st CORINTHIANS 15: 12-22; and GALATIANS 2: 16-17 respectively, Mankind/Humanity is DOOMED.

Is there anyone on this blog site who actually advocates using the name of "Sticky Jesus" as a suitable title for a social media book! Or is The Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour of mankind, the one who died for us on a cross at Calvary, just a throwaway figure and it doesnt matter "what he's called" as long as he fits in with peoples ideas of exploitation and marketing to get a message across!

      • Steven O'Dell on Apr 28, 2011 6:31 pm

Dear Parcel, Thank you for your tender concern to guard against profaning the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. I believe the concept for the title of this book, "Sticky Jesus" comes from a book by Chip and Dan Heath called "Made to Stick". Those authors outline concepts for making communication connect or "stick" with people. I believe the authors of "Sticky Jesus" want to help people to connect with Jesus. I believe this is an honorable endeavor and nothing untoward, which I trust you were not intimating.
        Blessings, Steve O

Parcel – I love your heart to defend our Father. It helps our evangelism efforts as a body if we take the time to speak to issues in context—especially when we are speaking in an online forum and our words reflect our King.

I'd love to send you a copy of the book to edify your understanding. To speak to the topic in the proper context, the book has a ton of marketing information in it to help our brothers and sisters understand our oline culture as much as WE are asking our culture to understand our Savior. Going online to evangelize is no different than going to a different country. There truly is SO much we do not understand that we need to understand to be effective.

Not to be hip or conforming, the title is more to inspire you, and me, to make sure our digital lives are "sticky" and modeled after the only Truth that has ever stuck to hearts and changed the world—the gospel.

Bless you brother. Please email me your address. I'm so excited to bless you with a book, em: to**@st*********.com

          🙂
