Earlier this week, I received an email from Anders Torvill Bjorvand of kommunion.no announcing a new Christian game he unveiled at the Global Christian Internet Alliance conference.
He wrote, “We have developed a game to inspire and nurture Children’s involvement and understanding in evangelism and world mission. It is called The Missionary Game.”
The game was created with Flash, so you play it online and there’s no need to download and install any software as long as you have Macromedia Flash Player 8 installed.
The premise of the game is that you are a missionary and have 30 days to start as many churches as you can. You do that by bringing Bibles and needed supplies to nearby villages. To get to the villages you have to make perilous journeys through deserts, across rivers, and over mountains while avoiding lions, snakes, vultures, and other predators.
My kids are 5 and 3 years old and can’t quite manage the keyboard controls for a game like this yet, but when they can I’d rather have them play games like this than games where the objective is to shoot someone. So, kudos to Anders and others who are making Christian games like this.

Having grown up in the 80s, I cut my gaming teeth on the first generation of arcade games like Pacman and Donkey Kong. I don’t play a lot of games anymore, but Flash games tend to have the simplicity of the games I grew up with. And well, I have to admit that from time to time I can get addicted to trying to conquer a game like this. That’s why if you check out the Hall of Fame, you’ll see “Paul” with the high score – 413,250 points and 14 churches started in 31 days.
So, here’s my challenge… If you get into the Hall of Fame (top 16 scores of all time), instead of your name type in the URL of your website (exclude the http://www to save space), then post a comment here to this blog article, and I’ll mention your site in my next blog article.

I appreciate this wonderfull talent and means of passing the gospel across to all even the little ones, this fullfil the of JESUS that say, let the young ones come to me , do not deprive them ,for theres is the kingdom of God.

Good to see someone coming up with a game that is not centered on violence, death and blood. Violent video games are affecting children spiritually and its no wonder when they grow up they have no interest in church and are poor at socializing with other people.
