Lutheran Pastors and Teachers Conference Website Workshop Notes

    Paul SteinbrueckBy Paul SteinbrueckSep 26, 2008Updated:Jan 25, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

Mark and I are back after spending two days in Daytona Beach as exhibitors at the Presidents Convocation of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Florida-Georgia District. We had lots of great conversations with pastors, principals, and teachers about their websites and what OurChurch.Com could do to help them make better use of the web for outreach and communicating with people in their congregations. We even ran into several teachers and youth pastors we knew from our middle and high school days 20+ years ago.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to lead a workshop – “More than a glorified brochure – Using your church or school website to attract visitors and engage members.” Here are some notes and links from the workshop.

Unfortunately, the workshop was rescheduled and the new time was not widely publicized. Additionally, another workshop entitled “Why does a Church/School Need a Website?” was schedule scheduled for the morning session and then again at the same time as the workshop I led. As a result, I think a lot of people who had planned to participate in the workshop missed it.

    Workshop Notes
So, for those who missed it and for those who made it and would like more information, here are some useful links from the workshop:

    • PowerPoint for the workshop

In the workshop we played a few rounds of Family Feud. The questions and answers were drawn from these three blog articles:

    • 10 Things Church Website Visitors Need to See
    • 10 Things Church Website Visitors Need to Know
    • 12 Things Every School Website Should Include

    Sample Church and School Sites
Here are the church and school sites we looked at during the workshop:

    • http://www.familyofchristtampa.com

Oh, and if you’d like to create a Family Feud game with your own questions, here’s a link to the software I used.

Congrats to Bobby from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Weston, FL who won the $50 Bonefish gift card given away at the workshop.

Thanks again to everyone who participated in the workshop.  If you’re interested in learning more about church or school websites, I encourage to register to receive our blog articles in your email.

I’ve got some other thoughts and observations from the conference I want to write about, so look for those early next week.
